Waynesville, David Randolph "Randy" Rhodes, age 64, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at John F. Keever Solace Center.
A native of Polk County, Florida he was a son of the late Ralph William and Carol Lee Powell Rhodes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother James D. Rhodes. Randy was a former resident of Lakeland, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia and has been a resident of Haywood County for 28 years. He was previously employed by Neal Pope Ford as General Manager for 6 years, and Badcock Furniture as Manager for 20 years. He was a member of Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Randy was the longest living liver transplant recipient at Emory University Medical School, which exemplified his fighting spirit. He was an avid fisherman and life-long Florida Gator fan.
Randy is survived by his life-long partner and best friend, Lisa Rhodes, of Waynesville; son, Hunter William Rhodes, and his wife, Heidi, of Waynesville; daughter, Summer Elizabeth Rhodes, of Waynesville; sister, Amy Nell Roberts, and her husband, Tom, of Waynesville; brother-in-law, Tim DeVaughn, of Clyde, grandson, Camden David Rhodes; and niece, Patti Robinson, and her husband, Anthony, of Waynesville.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in the Sanctuary of Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim McConnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.in the church vestibule, prior to the service. At all other times will be at Randy’s residence.

The care of Randy has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
