Canton – Nancy Diane Hovis Skidmore, 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at her residence.
Diane was a native of Gaston County and a daughter of the late Lois Vivian Hovis. She was a member of Plains United Methodist Church and she loved traveling, quilting, reading and sewing, especially cancer quilts.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gene Skidmore, who devotedly said that she was the love of his life; two sons, Gene Skidmore, Jr. of Charlotte and Jeff Skidmore and his wife, Marsha, of Mt. Holly; one sister, Sherry Hawley Washam of Huntersville; a brother, Harry Walker of Brevard; and one grandson, Brad Skidmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Plains United Methodist Church with the Reverend Aryn Williams-Ruebel and Reverend Zach Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
