Howard J. Trantham
Waynesville, Howard J. Trantham, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Lawson and Jennie Surrett Trantham. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth and Virginia; six brothers, Marion, Roy, Robert, Paul, Lucius, and Joe Trantham. Howard retired from the Town of Waynesville with 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid music fan, and loved singing at Pickin' in the Park where he also served as emcee for 25 years and also sang at Pickin' in the Armory both in Canton.
Howard is survived by three daughters, Joyce Trantham, Tammy Diaz, and her husband, Dario, and Carolyn Hall; one son, Kenny Trantham; one sister, Betty Trull; and his fiancée, Margaret Bohannon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Daryl Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
The care of Mr. Trantham has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
