Jo Ann Walker

Clyde – Jo Ann Mills Walker, age 78, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Elbert and Mamie McMahan Mills.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Edwin Walker, who died in 2017; three sisters and two brothers.

Jo Ann was a 1961 graduate of Waynesville Township High School. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, singing and playing the piano.  She loved to travel with her family to various destinations and making fond memories along the way.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Jeri Elaine Walker of Clyde; and three brothers, Jack Mills and his wife, Brenda, of Waynesville, Ronnie Mills and his wife, Pat, of Bethel and Danny Mills and his wife, Vicki, of Canton.

A private service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Canton with James Furr officiating.  Entombment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Mrs. Walker’s obituary on Wells Funeral Home website to facilitate the ongoing focus on community safety and health.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jo Ann Walker to Clyde First Baptist Church, 227 Main Street, Clyde, NC 28721 or Four Seasons Hospice Foundation, 211 N. Main Street, Hendersonville NC 28792.

The care of Mrs. Walker has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
