John Holtzclaw

Canton – John Carlisle Holtzclaw, age 83, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Pigeon Valley Rest Home.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Claude Alfonso and Ruby Haynes Holtzclaw.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hortense Belt and Mary Haynes White and a niece, Mary R. Hall.  John was formerly employed at Midway Medical Center and the Midway Bowling Lanes.  He also maintained a lot of yards making them look their best.  John was a member of Canton First Baptist Church.

He is survived by three nieces, Claudia Buie and husband, Neil, of Stedman, NC, Rebecca Allen and husband, Robert, of Euharlee, Georgia, and Jacqualynn Chambers and husband, Jimmy, of Canton; one nephew, Charles “Sandy” White and wife, Sue, of Canton; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Jack B. Sammons officiating.
