Waynesville, Louie Allen Cochran, age 78, was under hospice care and passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Pinkney Dewey Cochran and Lula Bell Morgan Cochran. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Trantham. Bill worked for 28 years for Dayco Corporation. This proud member of Allens Creek Baptist Church was known for his happy demeanor and love of children. Both Bill and Pat were inducted into the N.C. Agriculture Hall of Fame, where for many years they enjoyed accompanying their grandchildren and showing animals.
Bill is survived by his dear wife of 58 years, Patricia Cochran; three sons, Tony Cochran of Waynesville, Dewey Cochran, and his wife, Masha, of Arlington, Virginia, and Sam Cochran, and his wife, Brenda, of Waynesville; and two brothers, Jim Cochran (Joyce) and Buddy Cochran (Janice), all of Waynesville. Also left to treasure his memory are his six grandchildren, Samuel, Riley, Jacob, Danny, Sara, and Louie, and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ayden.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Scotty Patrick and Reverend Daniel Trantham officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be observed. The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Bill’s obituary on Wells Funeral Home website to facilitate the ongoing focus on community safety and health.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Mr. Cochran has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
