Roy Trantham

Waynesville, Roy Trantham, age 93, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Francis and Pearl Cogdill Trantham.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Pearl Beasley Trantham who died in 2019; and nine siblings.  He retired from Champion Paper after 42 years.

Roy is survived by a daughter, Priscilla Estrada, and her husband, Ricardo and Diane Henry, and her husband Ric; son, John Schmidt, and his wife Dena; sister, Francine Trantham Ledford; brother, Tom Trantham; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A private service was held at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Harry Worley and Reverend Garry Rogers officiating.  Roy will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
