Canton, Aaron K. Carpenter, age 30, died on Wednesday, January 05, 2011. Born in Bangor, Maine, he formerly resided in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Haywood County in 1995. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Cecil Campbell, and paternal grandfather, Donald "Red" Carpenter. Aaron was a 1998 graduate of Pisgah High School and received his Radiology Degree from Southwestern Community College. He was a US Army veteran and was one of the first servicemen to be deployed to Afganistan. Aaron was very dedicated to his hobby of jujitsu. He is survived by his parents, Diane Carpenter of Clyde and Kenneth Carpenter and his wife, Karen, of Canton; one brother, Joshua Carpenter, of Canton; maternal grandmother, Allura Campbell, of Brookton, Maine; paternal grandmother, Glenice Carpenter, of Ellsworth, Maine; a stepsister, Summer Landers and her husband, Kevin, of Florence, South Carolina; one stepbrother, Austin Green, of Charlotte; four uncles and one aunt; and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mack Farley officiating. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
