Abe Amos

Canton - Abe Harve Amos, age 96, formerly of Canton died Friday, January 7, 2005 at his daughter's residence in Richmond, VA. He was a native of Cherokee County and had lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Harvey and Roxie Zimmerman Amos and was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Carrie Rhodarmer Amos who died in 2003, a son Sewell Amos, a grandson, Terry Amos, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He retired from Champion International Paper in 1970 with 42 years of service and was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran. He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Grasty and her husband Bill of Richmond, VA, two sons LaRue Amos and his wife Bobbie of Decatur, AL and Jack Amos and his wife Adina of Canton, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. Reverend Doug Love will officiate. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be a the homeplace in the Kims Cove community. Flowers would be appreciated or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
