Ada Taylor

Ada Cope Taylor, age 95, of Mingus Hill died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Jackson County and had resided in Haywood County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Caroline Barker Cope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Taylor who died in 1983; a son, George Cope who died in 1980; an infant daughter and a granddaughter, Keitha Rathbone who died in 1994. She was very active member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church and an avid quilter. She was employed by Haywood County Schools as a cafeteria server at Pennsylvania Avenue Elementary School and was a former employee of the Plaza Laundromat and retired from the Canton Senior Citizens Center at age 91. She is survived by a son, Jack Cope of Canton; six grandchildren, Randy, Danny and Mitzie Cope, Denise Cope Finger, Teresa Burnette and Patty Rathbone; 11 great grandchildren, Chris, Todd, Amanda and Jessalyn Rathbone, Byron and Bianca Burnette, Holly Harmon, Nicholas Ferguson, Haley Cope, Patric Lachapelle and Kurt Cope; two great grandsons, Sherrill and Dalton Rathbone; a loving caregiver, Pat Parker and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Cope. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with the Reverend Brian Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
