Albert Rich

Maggie Valley, Jacob Albert Rich, age 91, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Harris Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Clawson and Annie Mae Evans Rich. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ina Mae Sutton Rich; three brothers and three sisters. Albert was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was a carpenter working with Roy Smith and the Lanning Family. If the world had more men like Albert Rich, it would be a better place. As the patriarch of his family, Albert will be remembered for his selflessness, dependability, loyalty and loving disposition. He was a bold witness for the Lord and served as a founding member of New Covenant Church. He was also their first deacon. Albert was a loving and devoted husband, Paw, and friend and will be greatly missed. Albert is survived by three daughters, Margaret Franklin, of Maggie Valley, Carolyn Crawford, and her husband, Ralph, of Bryson City and Rebecca "Becky" Green, and her husband, Jerry, of Maggie Valley; one son, James Lloyd Rich, and his wife, Robin, of Jonathan Creek; ten grandchildren, Scott and Jamie Crawford, Cindy Rivers, Bobby Franklin, Christina Trantham, Angie Carver, Alan Rich, Amanda Rich, Jeremiah Rich and Laura Rich Acosta; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at New Covenant Baptist Church with Reverend Frank Harvey, Reverend Nick Honerkamp and Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Rich, Alan Rich, Jamie Crawford, James L. Rich, Tyler Trantham, Derek Trantham, John Carver and Cody Trantham.
