Alice Hall

August 16, 1921 — June 4, 2010

Canton- Alice Idealia Rollins Hall, age 88, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Nashua, New Hampshire, Alice was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Eastman Rollins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade Edgar Hall who died in 1979 and a son, Charles Wade Hall who died in 2006. She was a former employee of Champion Papers Company Store and a bookkeeper for Smathers Market for 20 years. A dedicated Christian, Alice was a seventy year member of Canton First Baptist Church. She will long be remembered as church treasurer, choir member, Sunday school teacher, and Benevolence Committee Chairman. Alice was lovingly cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by two granddaughters, Caroline Floyd, of Rock Hill, SC and Jennifer Carpenter, of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Palmer Floyd and Charles Ellison Floyd; daughter in-law, Judy Herlong Hall, of Chapin, SC, and a niece, Marie Kolbe, of Michigan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ed Oakley and Reverend Dr. Jack B. Sammons officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Anne Walsh Play Ground Fund.
