Alice Monteith

Glenville, NC, Alice Jennings Monteith, age 65, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at her daughter's residence. A native of Missouri, she had resided in Jackson County since 1968. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Frieda Jennings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Jennings. Alice was a devoted servant of the Lord, who will be remembered for her selfless nature toward others and a smile that will never be forgotten by those who loved her. She was a member of Hamburg Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Alice's dear caregivers, Carolyn Grooms, Louise Bennett and Amy Presnell. She is survived by a son, Bob Monteith and his wife, Tammy, of Okinawa, Japan; a daughter, Lisa M. Beck of Waynesville; two sisters, Margie and Joan both of Missouri; a brother, Don and his wife, Mary, of Jefferson City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Alicia Knight and her husband, Brandyn, Courtney, Haley and Hudson Monteith and Jordan Presnell and one great-grandson, Dawsyn Coy Knight on the way and her biological mother, Mary Flores of Jefferson City, Missouri; Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Hamburg Baptist Church with her son, Pastor Robert "Bob" Monteith and Preacher Eddie Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Hamburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the residence, 247 4th Street, Waynesville, NC 28786. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist International Missions Inc., Account # 860, P.O.
