Allan Mcleod, Jr.

Maggie Valley, NC—Allan W. McLeod, Jr., age 69, of 217 Club Crest Drive, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at his home. He was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire, the son of the late Allan W. and Katherine Engle McLeod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, C. Donald McLeod and sisters, Judy Beauregard and Susan Berry. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1965 and enjoyed a career in magazine print publishing that included Horticulture Magazine of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in Boston, Hearst magazines, and Newsweek in New York City. His Newsweek International assignment included living abroad in Japan and traveling throughout the Orient and Europe. After retirement, he worked part time with the US Census Bureau and served on the board of Maggie Valley Country Club Estates Property Owners Association. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Yuko Kawakuri McLeod; sisters, Barbara Murphy of E. Longmeadow, Massachusetts and her twin, Ellen Mabie of Tacoma, Washington. Allan is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at The First Congregational Church in Marion, Massachusetts. A luncheon reception is planned at 12:00 noon prior to the services at the church's Community Center Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Allan W.
