Alline Rice

Clyde, Alline Ledford Rice, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dora Rhinehart Ledford and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence "Fat" Ledford and Hugh Ledford. Alline was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, but her heart belonged to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church. Alline enjoyed growing roses and her rose blooms were always a standout in the spring and summer. Her other passion was planning and decorating for Christmas. Alline is survived by her husband of 47 years, Josh Rice; two daughters, Linda Glance Duckett and husband, Mike, of Waynesville and Debbie Glance Messer and her husband, Jerry, of Clyde; a son, Robert Dale Glance and his wife, Debbie, of Clyde; one sister, Pauline Wood of Candler; a sister-in-law, Alene Rice, of Canton; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sandra Crawford; her best friend, Hope Mull; and special caregivers, Nancy Stamey and Angie Messer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Ruff and Reverend Charles Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Weaver for taking such good care of Alline.
