Alta Womble

Waynesville, Alta McGhee Womble age 95, formerly of Cherry Street, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Lorenza and Jennie Goodwin McGhee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Womble who died in 1976; a daughter, Agnes Womble, who died in 1963; one sister, Dovie Pendergraft; and one brother, L.D. McGhee. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Carpenter, NC. She is survived by a son, Marlyn Womble, of Waynesville; one daughter, Alene Glover and her husband, Bobby, of Apex, NC; one grandson, Ronald Glover and his wife, Louise; and one great grandson, Chris Glover. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Weatherspoon officiating. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Alene Glover, 1711 Brashear Court, Apex, NC.
