Altha Buchanan

Altha Mae Woodruff Buchanan, age 85, of Kirby Street in the Mountain View Apartments, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Canton Christian Convalscent Center. She was a native of Jackson County but lived most of her life in Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Glen and Belva Hall Woodruff. Altha was a former employee of Champion International with 25 years of service as a secretary. She retired from Shatterproof Glass Company in Detroit Michigan after 15 years of service. She is survived by a son, Dean Woodruff and his fiancé, Jaime Werthem, of Leicester; a brother, Ted Woodruff and his wife, Bonnie, of Canton; a sister, VeEtta Webb and her husband, Leon, of Waynesville; and she had a very special place in her heart for her three grandchildren, Krista, Deana and Logan Woodruff, all of Daytona Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007, at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with the Reverend William O. "Bill" Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
