Alveta Fletcher

Alveta Medford Fletcher, age 89, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 at MedWest – Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson R. and Dixie Sorrells Medford. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edith Dotson. Alveta prayed for her family each day and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church since she was six years old. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, T. P. Fletcher; a daughter, Cathy DeWeese and her husband, Jeffrey of Asheville; a son, Robert Alan Fletcher and his wife, Diane, of Cary; a sister, Jennie Mae Early and her husband, Hugh, of Clyde; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeff King and Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
