Amanda Smith

Waynesville, Amanda Carol Smith, age 39, of Nutmeg Court passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Amanda was a native of Catawba County but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of Wayne and Dottie Wood Smith of Waynesville. Amanda had an A.S. Degree in dental hygiene and graduated from Western Carolina University with a B.A. Degree in education. She had worked for Dr. Stallard and Dr. Ferguson as a dental hygienist and was currently employed in Jackson County at Fairview Middle School as a 7th grade math teacher. On weekends, Amanda worked at Miss Caroline's Wedding Chapel; enjoyed clogging and never missed watching her son's soccer and football games. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Christopher Smith of the home; Christopher's father, Jeff Smith of Maggie Valley; two brothers, Steven Smith and his wife Lynda of Waynesboro, VA; Phillip Smith and his wife, Lesia of Waynesville; nieces and nephews; Shana Martin, Shawna Boone, Philesia, Joshua, Kyle and Daniel Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Bishop Steve Adler officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Howard, Brandon Allen, Joey Robinson, Tim Carver, Ben Peterson and Taylor Yates. Tuscola Football Team will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 pm Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her parents.
