Waynesville, Angela Jean Agostini-Bartucca, age 38, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Sussex County, New Jersey, Angela's family had moved to Haywood County in 1993. She was the daughter of David and Sharon Stewart Agostini and was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Joseph Agostini and step-grand father, Arthur Minchew. Angela was a North Carolina Academic Scholar and a 1998 graduate of Tuscola High School. She received her undergraduate degree as well as her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Appalachian State University. Angela was employed as a Speech Therapist at Mission Children's Hospital in Asheville, NC. She was previously employed at the Children's Developmental Services Agency for 10 years, in Waynesville. Angela was well known and greatly respected in her field of Speech Language Pathology. She provided excellent care and touched the lives of many children and their families across Western North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband of six years, Paul Bartucca; her parents; paternal grandmother, Arlene Minchew, of Wilmington; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Estelle Stewart, of Clyde; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Nancy Bartucca, of Waynesville; a sister, Staff Sgt. Michelle Agostini U.S.A.F., of Valdosta, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Jess Agostini, of Waynesville, Michael Agostini and his fianceé, Meghan Kurzel, of Maggie Valley and brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Diana Bartucca of Hingham, Massachusetts; aunts, Bethany Agostini and Jennifer Patterson, both of Wilmington; uncle and aunt, Roger and Cheryl Bartlett of Kennesaw, Georgia; two nieces, Olivia Agostini and Emma Peterson; four nephews; and many cousins, as well as her beloved dog "Nula".
Angela had a great love of life and a true devotion to the people she loved. She had a special gift of bringing family together through her thoughtfulness and loved being "Aunt Bunny" to her two beautiful nieces.
Her passions were hiking and camping in these mountains she loved and gardening at her cherished home. She was an accomplished artist creating numerous portraits for her family and friends. She also loved to travel near and far and was an exceptional shopper. Angela was an avid reader and was constantly wanting to learn about everything under the sun. Her compassion, smile and incredibly vibrant eyes lit up every room that she entered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Wells Events and Reception Center.
