July 20, 1939 — April 5, 2010

Anita Gail Cook, age 70, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Finley and Novella Smathers Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Erika Gaddy. She is survived by a brother, Phil Cook and his wife, Patsy, of Canton; two sisters, Alba Jo Sanford and her husband, Kenneth, and Amanda Robinson, all of Canton; three nieces, Sebrena Sanford, Michele Singleton and Amy Singleton; three nephews, Robbie, Adam, and Jake Robinson; 10 great nieces and nephews; and all her special friends at Richland Community Care in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Doug Love and the Reverend Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Morning Star Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1746, Canton, NC 28716.
