ANN M. COLEY
Waynesville-Ann Mitchell Coley, age 73, of Spring Cove Road, died Monday, October 6, at Mission St. Joseph Health Systems.
A native of Wake County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Silas B. and Pearl Denny Coley. She was also preceded in death by two half sisters, Jessie Paul Chamblee and Margaret Waldron; and two half brothers, Cheatham Coley and Harold Coley.
She is survived by one brother, Silas B. Coley, II , and his wife, Rachel, of Chapel Hill; a brother-in-law, B. D. Waldron, of Maggie Valley; her friend and companion, Shirley Embody, of Waynesville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's school, Raleigh, attended Hollins College, Roanoke, Virginia, The New School in Creative Writing, N.Y.C., a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and attended Columbia University. She also studied at the Sorbonne in France.
She was a world traveler, living in various countries over the years, owning a real estate concern in Spain and in a business of import export in Barcelona. Upon retirement in Haywood County, Ms. Coley continued her interest in the financial world, and in her love of books and research in the spiritual and healing arts. Her library attests to her desire for knowledge in many fields.
An interment service will be held at a later date in the Coley family plot in Oakmont Cemetery in Raleigh.
