Waynesville, Ann Kendrick Trevarthen, age 75, of Thomas Park, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Coffee County, Alabama, she had resided in Waynesville for the past 43 years. She was the daughter of the late John William and Madaline Strain Kendrick. Ann graduated from Luverne High School in Luverne, Alabama and attended Auburn University. She received her BS Degree in Education from Western Carolina University and her Masters Degree in Music from the University of Georgia. Ann was employed as a music teacher for the Haywood County School System for ten years; was President of HAWA during its organization; secretary, organist, and choir director for fifteen years at First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville; member of HART's orchestra and was conductor for several shows; piano accompanist and vocalist in various musical ensembles at Western Carolina University and in Haywood County. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard "Dick" Trevarthen; one daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Turner and her husband, Conrad "Rusty" Turner, of Waynesville; one son, John William Hargrove and his wife, Kelly, of Birmingham, Alabama; four stepsons, Dan Trevarthen and his wife, Cynthia, of Hollywood, California, Chris Trevarthen and Ron Trevarthen and his wife, Karen, all of Portland, Oregon, and Larry Trevarthen and his wife, Carol, of Vancouver, Washington; and six grandchildren, Julia Turner, Madaline, Elizabeth, and Will Hargrove, and Megan and Reid Trevarthen. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with The Reverend Arlene Lukas officiating.
