Anna Burgess

Waynesville, Anna Belle Messer Burgess, age 80, of the Sutton Town Community, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Haynes and Mattie Early Messer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Burgess, who died in 1975, and a daughter, Shirley Smith. She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Burgess and his wife, Shari, and Michael Burgess and his wife, Kathy as well as two daughters, Peggy Franklin and Debra Peters and her husband, Bill, all of Waynesville; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Chaplain Barbara McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
