Annette Devlin Lovingood, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Silver Bluff Village in Canton, North Carolina. Born on July 29, 1941, in Haywood County, she spent her life surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains of Western North Carolina, where her warm spirit and nurturing nature brought joy to all who knew her.
As a dedicated homemaker, Annette was known for her incredible cooking skills, which filled her home with delicious aromas and brought her family together around the table. Her passion for creating not just meals but memories with her loved ones was unmatched. She was more than a caregiver; she was the heart of her family, forever ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand, and her influence will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
Annette's loving spirit will live on through her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Jack Lovingood and David Lovingood (Michelle), as well as her beloved daughter, Darla Latham (Gary). Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her brother, Larry Devlin of Florida; her grandchildren, Lorna Hollifield (Kimsey), Seth Lovingood, Haley Stewart (Andrew), Christian Lovingood, Daniel Case, Nicole Case, Natalie Case, Tori Lovingood, Trace Lovingood, Emily Lovingood, and Hannah Maness (Petey), along with Brennan Latham and Steven Latham. She was also a proud great-grandmother, leaving behind Allyn Hollifield, Harper Creasman, Malaina Lovingood, August Lovingood, and Case Maness.
Throughout her life, Annette faced challenges with grace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lester Lovingood, who left this world on October 8, 2012, and by her parents, Walter Albert Devlin and Ilah Enulia Wiggins Devlin. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Jo Williams and Doris Plemmons, and brothers, Kenneth, Dwight, and Carroll Devlin, who all held a special place in her heart.
Annette's inurnment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina, on March 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
She will be remembered not just for her nurturing soul and delicious meals, but for the love that she sowed among her family, ensuring that her spirit will be felt for generations to come. Gone but never forgotten, Annette Devlin Lovingood leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
The care of Mrs. Lovingood has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
