Annie Mauldin

Waynesville-Annie Marie "Yank" Whitner Mauldin, age 78, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Martha Conner Whitner. She was also preceded in death by her son, Claude Mauldin, Jr. and two sisters, Kay Grasty and Elizabeth Shelton. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Waynesville and enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She attended Rocky Branch Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Claude Mauldin; a daughter, Linda Woody and her husband, Wayne, of Canton; three sisters, Stella Arrington, Virgie Inman, and Mary Creasman, all of Waynesville; two brothers, D. A. Whitner of Waynesville and Robert Whitner, of the Fines Creek community; two grandchildren, Kristy Pless and Anthony Woody; and two great grandchildren, Andrew Woody, and John Paul Pless. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Friday, May 27, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Stacy Woods and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Plott Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of Stella and Red Arrington, 927 Brown Avenue. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Woody, Dwayne Whitner, William Arrington, Charles Ray Creasman, Matthew Inman, Johnny Pless, Bryan and Roger Whitner, and Tim Arrington.
