Annie Sutton

September 12, 1919 — December 5, 2007

Waynesville-Annie Cagle Sutton, age 88, of the Hemphill Community died on Wednesday, December 05, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Eva Caldwell Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Sutton, who died in 1991; an infant son, Clifford Sutton; two sisters, Lacy Wakefield and Letha Wood; and one brother, Jack Cagle. She enjoyed working in her garden, especially her flowers, loved her dogs, loved mountain music and the outdoors. She was a member of Hemphill Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Otis Sutton and his wife, Helen, of the Hemphill Community; one sister, Bonnie Sutton, of Canton; one brother, Gilmer Cagle, of Florida; one grandson, Edward Rocky Sutton and his wife, Annette; and one great grandson, Jonathan Sutton, of Maiden, NC; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Phyllis Vance of the Hemphill Community. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sugar Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
