Clyde, NC - Annie Ray Vincent, age 89, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was born October 8, 1920 in Sumter County, GA and was the daughter of the late Reverend Marvin and Sadie Doster Vincent. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Doster Vincent; three sisters, Manelle Jeter, Vivian Schild and Ida Blanche Horne. Annie Ray graduated from Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA in 1940, Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro, GA and received her master's degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She taught elementary school for 35 years. After retirement, she took care of her mother and two sisters and traveled. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association and First Methodist Church in Moultrie, GA. In 1999, she moved to North Carolina to live with Dean and Dorothy Jeter Barnum, her niece and nephew, where she was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Fines Creek. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, GA. The family received friends following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, C/O Harold Penticoff, 320 Creekmont Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
