Anthony Cira

Maggie Valley-Anthony Cira, age 81, of 392 Balsam Shadow Road, died, Sunday January 28, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was born in South Bend, IN. and was a former resident of Tampa FL. from 1949 until 1991 and had resided in Haywood County since 1991. He was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerita Mercurio Cira. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Ryan Simons, who died in 1993. Mr. Cira was a US World War II Navy Veteran having served in the D-Day Normandy invasion. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Blanche Smolek Cira; one daughter, Sandi M. Simons; and one son, Ricky Cira, both of Maggie Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
