Archie Boineau, Jr.

Waynesville, Archie Glenn Boineau, Jr., age 94, formally of Meadow Street, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Archie Glenn and Lillian Webster Boineau. He was a Turrett Captain First Class US Navy veteran of World War II and was employed as a budget planner for the Veterans Administration for 37 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna Merritt Boineau; one sister, Mildred Summerrow of Waynesville; nephews, Lawson and David Summerrow and great niece, Jennifer Summerrow; great nephews, Ashley and Kelly Summerrow; Edna's cousin, Jeanne Pope, her sons, Glenn T. Pope and Charles Pope, Jr. and wife Amanda, and her daughter, Kathy Peterson and husband, Jeff. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Military rites will follow at the church and inurnment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain.
