Archie Wilde

Winston Salem-Archie Clement Wilde, age 70, of 1000 Lavada Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. He was a native of Madison County and was the son of the late Fred B. and Lala Reese Wilde. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kermit, Quentin and Richard Wilde and one sister Irene Wilde. He was a welder and was a former employee of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for over 20 years. He was also a retired welder and pipe fitter for Union Local 421. He was a member of Market Place Ministries in Winston Salem. He was a life-long rabbit hunter who loved to raise beagles, and he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hilda Arrington Wilde; one daughter, Beverly W. Asbell, of Bristol, VA; two sisters, Alene Wilde, of Hendersonville and Juanita Brown of Nebo, NC; four brothers, Thomas, Conley, and Robert Wilde, all of Newport News, VA and Elzie Wilde of Pisgah Forest; one granddaughter, Crystal J. Ridge and her husband, David, of Kernersville, NC and one great-granddaughter, Laurelyn Grace Ridge. He was also blessed with many other precious relatives, friends, and hunting buddies, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Haley and Brooke Scott and Madalyn and Chase Rector. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend James Hensley and Reverend Richard Capps officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the funeral home.
