Arvella Hawkins

Arvella Phillips Hawkins, age 80, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011, at John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Perry and Flora Elizabeth West Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Fore; and two brothers, Marcell and R.P. Phillips. Arvella owned and operated Hawkins Beauty Shop before working at Square D and she attended Ridgeway Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jack R. Hawkins; three daughters, Reugena H. Davis and her husband, Richard, of Candler, Elaine Reagan and her husband, Ronald, of Greensboro, and Jackie Pace and her husband, Mike, of Candler; one son, Phillip Hawkins and his wife, Karen, of Candler; one brother, Carroll Phillips of Candler; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack W. Collins and the Reverend Johnny Tiller officiating. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
