Auther Cooper

Waynesville, Auther Earnest Cooper, 284 Lum Boone Circle, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 at The Homestead. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late James and Bonnie Jones Cooper and was also preceded in death by a brother, Beecher Cooper. Arther retired from Dayco with 29 years of service and enjoyed fishing and golf. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Ketner Cooper; his children, Monica, Kenny, Barry, and Shane Cooper, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Freda Bryant of Canton, and Talmeta Lindsey and Carolyn Stewart and her husband, Ray, all of Clyde; three brothers, Luther R. Cooper and his wife, Carol, of Thomasville, North Carolina and Tommy and Harold Cooper and his wife, Sandra, all of Waynesville; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two special sister-in-laws, Carolyn and Evelyn Cooper. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Wyatt officiating.
