Barbara Rogers

November 27, 1938 — February 22, 2014

Barbara Anne Rainis Rogers, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at her residence. A native of Albany, New York, she also resided in Louisiana, Texas, Washington, California, Mississippi, and New Brunswick, Canada as well as the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Anna Rainis, and was also preceded in death by her younger brother, James Rainis. Barbara is survived by the love of her life and husband of 57 years, George E. Rogers, of Clyde; one son, Kent Rogers and his wife Kim, of Perry, Utah; one daughter, Sharon Maguire and her husband, Ken, of Madison, Alabama; five grandchildren, Megan Rogers and her husband Ben Allen, Jimmy Rogers, Heather, Eric and Scott Maguire. Barbara had a myriad of gifts and talents, but she will forever be remembered for her natural creativity in home décor and design, her affinity for flower gardening, as well as preparing gourmet meals for her family and friends. All who knew Barbara were aware of her great passion and love for her grandchildren and her generosity toward others. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
