Barbara Carter

Barbara Thompson "Bobbie" Carter, age 92, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Samuel and Mary Louise May Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobart M. Carter, Jr. who died in 1986. She was a member of Canton Central United Methodist Church. Bobbie was recognized in 2001 for having kept the church nursery for 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Owen and her husband, Ronnie, of Hendersonville and Beth Earley and her husband, Melvin, of Clyde; a son, David Carter of Canton; two grandsons, Ronnie and Brent Owen; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the budget/building fund of Canton Central United Methodist Church, P.O.
