Barbara Clauser

Waynesville, Barbara Kay Manus Clauser, age 71, of 172 Liberty Road, died on Monday, June 2, 2008 at her residence. A native of Logan County, IL, she was a former resident of Akron, OH, Omaha, NE, Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC and had lived in Haywood County since 1992. She was the daughter of the late Carl William and Clara Mammen Manus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Jean Menzies. She was a graduate of Illinois State University and was a former schoolteacher. She was also employed as a church secretary at Sharon Baptist Church in Charlotte. Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville where she was a member of the Choir, Handbells, Faith Sunday-School Class, and the United Methodist Women. She was the Administration Coordinator of the Older Adult Programs for the Intentional Growth Center at Lake Junaluska, a member of the PEO, and active with the Junaluskans, Junaluska Associates, and the Women's Club. Barbara enjoyed cooking, especially her homemade bread. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald Paul Clauser; three daughters, Kathleen Remley and her husband, Don, and Laura Shirey and her husband, Stuart, all of Charlotte, and Patricia Ireland, and her husband, Reverend Scott Ireland, of Mooresville, NC; one son, Robert Clauser and his wife, Kerbi, of Asheboro, NC; one brother, Carlyle Creston Manus, of San Jose, IL; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Guthrie and her husband, Neal, Allison Munday, Stephen Skolnik, Heather and Sean Ireland, and Benjamin, Will, and Matthew Clauser. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. W. Lyn Sorrells, Reverend Wilson Strickhausen, and Reverend Scott E. Ireland officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist of Waynesville Music Fund, P.O.
