Barbara Guge

Maggie Valley, Evelyne Guge, age 78, of Brennan Road, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her residence. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Eula Phillips George. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eldred Guge, who died in 1988, and one brother, Dean George. She was a teacher at Southwestern Child Development, retiring in 2005. Evelyne enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Scott Guge and his wife, Lynne, of Waynesville and Joel Guge and his wife, Luanne of Fletcher; four daughters, Donna Mason and her husband, Troy, and Lisa Coleman and her husband, Mike, all of Canton, Nancie Mehaffey and her husband, Carroll and Misty Guge, all of Maggie Valley; three sisters, Polly Harrington and Maxine Barton, both of Alabama and Bonita Moss of Robbinsville; one brother, Larry George of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Taylor and Reverend Rick Conley officiating. Her grandsons and Steven Mehaffey will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
