Barbara Hannah

Waynesville, Carrie Barbara Dene Woody Hannah, age 55, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Haywood County but had lived in Concord, NC prior to moving back to Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Jimmy Lawson and Bertha Banks Woody and was also preceded in death by brothers, A. L. Woody, Amon Woody, J. C. Woody and Thomas Dewey and Willis Woody. Barbara enjoyed sewing, making clothes, blankets, cooking and baking candies and sweets, especially for her grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Sam Hannah; two sons, Benny Hannah and his girlfriend Michelle Burnette and Nathan Hannah; all of Waynesville; two daughters, Brandy Hannah and her fiancé Mike Bradley and Michelle Hannah; all of Waynesville; three sisters, Lottie Ensley of Tennessee; Ollie Belle Rethford and her husband Roger of Winston-Salem; Patricia Hannah and her husband George of Welcome, NC; two brothers, Crawford Woody of Waynesville, Robert Lee Woody and his wife Judith of Gaston County; 11 grandchildren; Ivy Webb, Bubba and Sissy Hannah, Tim Hannah, Courtney Hannah, Elizabeth (Moo-Moo) Bradley, Jessie King, Josh Huffman, Levi Hannah, Michael Bradley and Colton Hensley and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. Reverend Jerry Nelson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at Barbara's home. Burial will be in the White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
