Barbara Hipps

Barbara Payne Hipps, age 69, died on Friday, March 25, 2011, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Haywood County she was the daughter of Lucille Lovin Payne and the late J. B. Payne, who died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Walter H. Hipps, Jr., who died in 2003 and a sister, Carolyn Payne, who died in 2008. Barbara was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church where she was active in the church choir. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Ralph Lee Payne and his wife, Irene, and Wallace Dale Payne; a sister, Cleata Payne Wilson and her husband, Dennis, all of Candler; six nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Lucille Payne.
