Candler – Barbara Lynn Hyatt Shelton, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 11, 2021 at her residence.
Barbara was born on April 11, 1954 in Haywood County to the late Mary Elizabeth Hyatt and Wayne W. King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Shelton; one son, Brian W. Shelton; and two brothers, Robert and Danny Hyatt.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, S. Shane Shelton and April of Candler and Jeffrey T. Shelton and Elizabeth of Stanley; one daughter, Michelle Shelton of Candler; eight grandchildren, Morgan, Joshua, and Casey Pressley, all of Candler, Casey Cannon of Candler, Hoke and Tucker Shelton of Stanley, Chelsey Marie Trexler of Candler, and Thomas Sean Duncan of Marshall; two great-great grandchildren, Nathaniel Pressley and Bristol Smith of Candler; three sisters, Mrs. Pat Butler (Larry) of Maggie Valley, Ms. Cynthia Jones of Canton, and Ms. Kathy King of Henderson; and special extended family, Mr. Robert Dorlan of Waynesville.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
