Barbara Jean Stuart

Barbara Jean Cogburn Stuart, 88, of Candler, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at her residence. 

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late James and Addie Bradburn Cogburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stuart, who died in 2014, and her daughter, Kathy Stines. 

She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Medford and her husband, Wayne, Phyliss Cogburn and her husband, Ted, Teresa Messer, and Cindy McCurry and her husband, Kevin, all of Candler; two brothers, James Cogburn and his wife, Yvonne of Texas, and Ted Cogburn, Sr. and his wife, Iris of Candler; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Brother Rodney Morrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Serving as pall bearers will be: Nick Reeves, Chris Cogburn, Nathan Cogburn, Jeff Sexton, Kevin McCurry, and Casey McCurry.

Following the service, family will receive friends at the home of Barbara Stuart.
