Beatrice Sisk

Waynesville-Beatrice Minnie Burgess Palmer Sisk, age 94, formerly of Pigeon Road, died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. She was a native of Cataloochee and was one of 11 children born to the late John W. and Hester Cook Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kimsey Palmer, and second husband, Grady Sisk; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Siske; one stepson, Joe Siske. She was a machine operator at Welco Corporation being the eighth female hired with 32 years of service. She was a member of Barberville Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. She read the Bible 14 times. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Smith, and her husband, Leonard, and Katie Coin, both of Waynesville; one son, Kenneth L. Palmer, of Weaverville; one stepdaughter, Anne Gibbs, and her husband, Jerry, of Waynesville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and eleven step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Kenny Palmer, Lowell Buchannan, Scotty and Shane Gibbs, and Mike and Keith Siske. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Buchanan, Chris Gibbs, and Randy Siske. Memorials may be made to the Francis Cove United Methodist Church, 2530 Crymes Cove Road, Waynesville, NC 28786, or the church of one's choice.
