Waynesville, Bebe Abel, 81, passed away peacefully at Autumn Care of Waynesville Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Bebe was a native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nancy Cathey Abel. Bebe was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School of 1957 and attended Mars Hill College. She was the General Director of Spotlights with the youth theater and was involved with the Drama classes throughout the schools in Haywood County. Bebe was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville.
Bebe is survived by a sister, Nancy Abel Jamison, and husband, John, of Jackson, Tennessee; one niece, Karin Wollin, of Waynesville, NC; two nephews, Mark Abel Jamison and family, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Matthew Jamison and family, of Jackson, Tennessee; a very special family member, Jack Nichols, of Waynesville, NC; extended family members, Joe McEvoy and family, of Siler City, NC, Ruth Caldwell and Marshall, of Waynesville, NC, Paula McElroy and family, of Wayneville, NC, Elaine Burch and family, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Tim Plowman and family, of Waynesville, NC, Mrs. Don Eudy, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Charles McDarris and family, of Raleigh, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waynesville with Pastor Holly Davis, Reverend John P. Lindsay, and Dr. Riley Covin officiating. The family will receive friends following the services in the fellowship hall. A private burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 305 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Bebe has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
