Belle Lawrence

Belle Mode Lawrence, age 97, died Monday, January 7, 2008, at Silver Bluff Village. She was a native of Cleveland County, NC and the daughter of the late Samuel James and Jennie Haynes Mode. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George H. Lawrence, who died in 1983 and two sons, Walter Lee and Charles Everett Lawrence; three brothers; and a sister. She was a member of Plains United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Ann Smathers of Canton and Lizzie Mae Turner of Cleveland County; a special daughter-in-law, Nancy Lawrence of Canton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Michael Austin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to Plains United Methodist Church, c/o Maxine Kinsland, P. O.
