Ben Wilson

Ben Ray Wilson, age 73, of 161 Morgan Cove Road, died on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late John Willis "Bill" and Blanche Payne Wilson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Steve Wilson; two previous wives, Sally Claire Wilson and Doris Scruggs Wilson and a brother, Roy Lee Wilson. Ben retired from Champion International and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Loree McCants Wilson, of Candler; a son, Stan V. Wilson, and his wife, Jill of Candler; two stepsons, James Messer, and his wife, Barbara, of Salisbury, NC and Jack Messer, and his wife, Dawn, of Virginia Beach, VA; two stepdaughters, Jackie Kitchens, and her husband, Lee, of Gaffney, SC and Diann Latta; one brother, Sherrill Wilson, and his wife, Nancy of Candler; sister-in-law, Monteen Wilson; 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
