Bernice Medford

Maggie Valley, Bernice Tiers "Bee" Medford, age 92, of Maggie Valley and Sarasota, Florida died on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Sarasota, FL. She was the widow of Marcus Ned Medford, who died in 1989. She had maintained a summer residence in Maggie Valley since 1960. Bee was a Bridge Life Master, a member of the Palm Circle Garden Club of Sarasota, and an Associate Member of the Sarasota Yacht Club. She was the founder of the Louis P. Tiers Memorial Scholarship Fund at Haywood Regional Medical Center and the Bernice and Marcus Ned Medford Memorial Scholarship Fund at Haywood Community College. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Caxton Doggett officiating. Private interment will be held at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
