Bertha Louise Putnam Price

Bertha Louise Putnam Price, 80, passed away on March 13, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late General Putnam (Mary) - her father; Callie Burgess Worley (Albert) -her mother.
 
Born on March 18, 1943, Bertha was a graduate of Bethel High School and Haywood Community College of Nursing. She was a retired Registered Nurse from Haywood Regional Medical Center.  Throughout her career, she touched the lives of many with her caring and compassionate nature.  She was a member of Jonathan Valley Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday School, was the VBS Director and was Choir Director.   She found great joy being in the church choir for many years. 
 
Beyond her professional life, Bertha found joy in working in her vegetable garden, tending to her flower garden, and savoring the outdoors. Her love for nature reflected her nurturing spirit that extended beyond the walls of the hospital.
 
Bertha is survived by her loving family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Among those mourning her loss are her three daughters, Martha Swanger (Mike), Wanda Parton (Ricky), and Glenda Stewart (Steven); a son, Ted Putnam; Betty Jo Askew (Ronnie), Tommy and Jerry Price - her step-children; as well as Trevor Parton, Matthew Swanger, Steven Putnam, and Samuel Stewart - her grandsons.  She is also survived by Angela James (Brandon) and Jessica London - her step-granddaughters; Frances Brooks -her sister; alongside several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who all hold a special place in their hearts for Bertha.
 
Among those who preceded Bertha in death are Noah Dill Price -her husband; Glenn Putnam - father of her children; William Henry Putnam and Roger Dale Putnam -her brothers; Eva Kuykendall -her sister; Joseph Michael Swanger-her grandson; Bobby Price-her step-son; Allen Kuykendall and James Brooks-her brother-in-laws; Timothy Brooks, Terry & Fred Putnam-her nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Bobby Downs officiating.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16. 2024 from 5:00 pm. until 7:00 p.m.   Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park following the funeral service. 
 
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC  28731.
 
Bertha's legacy of kindness, dedication to healthcare, and love for nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
