Bertie Sanderlin

"1928 - 2015" Canton – Bertie Loreen Chapman Sanderlin, age 87, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County and prior residence of Salem, New Jersey for 36 years, she was the daughter of the late M.A. and Effie Gaddy Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Sanderlin, Sr.; two daughters-in-law, Glenda G. Broome and Gene Sue Barnett; and son-in-law, Walter Paxton. She retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation with 32 years of service and a member of Canton Church of God of Prophecy. Bertie enjoyed gardening, spending quality time with her family, friends, and her faithful companion "Snookie". She is survived by a daughter, Claudia S. Paxton of Canton; three sons, Ralph Broome and his fiancé, Andrea Teper, of Charlotte, Mark Barnett of Concord, and Floyd Sanderlin, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Canton; two brothers, Jack Chapman of Asheville, and McKay Henson of Clyde; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
