Bessie Moffitt

Bessie Willis Moffitt - age 93 of Parham Road died Friday, February 02, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie and Addie Medford Willis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Moffitt, who died in 1977; two sisters, Winnie Parham and Minnie Teems; and two brothers Troy H. and Mark L. Willis. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Veterans Cleaners in Canton and she also worked at Champion International. Bessie was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Oak Leaf Chapter. She is survived by one sister, Fannie Wilson of Canton; one nephew, Michael Willis of Canton; two nieces, Marcia Conner and Stephanie Rowden both of Canton; three great nieces, Carol Underwood, Joy Willis, and Shelly Aikin; one great-nephew, John Willis; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen W. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
