Bessie Robinson

June 2, 1917 — April 10, 2012

Bessie Marie Scott Robinson, age 94, of the Beaverdam Community died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. She was a native of Buncombe County but had lived most of her life in Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Jess and Minnie Parham Scott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lee Robinson, who died in 1998; a daughter, Phyllis Annette Cook, who died in 2011; five brothers; and two sisters. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. Bessie enjoyed embroidery and growing her favorite flowers, dahlias. She really enjoyed being outdoors and roaming the mountains. She is survived by a grandson, Scott Cook of Canton; a great-grandson, Rusty Cook of Canton; three sisters, Frankie Smith of Clyde, Lucy Best and her husband, Carroll, of Canton, and Betty Jean Rathbone and her husband, Boyd, of Waynesville; and two brothers, Ray Scott and his wife, Louise, of Canton and Weaver Scott and his wife, Mary Lou, of Hendersonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Reverend Gene Worley and Reverend Martin Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 43 Sunny Acres Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
